filmora probe video editor advanced editing effects and motion graphics made easy this series of tutorials are going to show you the basics of editing in Tamura pro from start to finish hi everyone my name is Johnny and in this tutorial we will learn about transitions we'll learn.
How to apply these transitions look at some specific video transitions and some audio ones as well last but not least we'll look at animation effects transitions are a special kind of effect which are meant to connect or join two clips they can also be used to fade the beginning or end of a clip if we look at the effects panel there's a folder called transitions video or a faster way to find it is to select to show only transitions on the upper box to apply a transition.

We can drag it into the timeline and drop it where we want to apply it at the beginning or at the end of the clip or between two adjacent Clips the transition will be visible on the upper part of the clip on the timeline and we can click and drag it to place it somewhere else if we select it and drag it from its edges we can extend or reduce the duration of the transition when the transition is selected we can adjust its settings on the controls panel although some transitions do not have adjustable settings.

We can get rid of a transition by selecting it and hitting delete the dissolved transitions will join the clips by mixing their overall opacity and brightness motion transitions will move one or both clips to reveal a second one on wipe transitions one clip will progressively replace the other one in geometric pattern  zooom transitions will join the clips by affecting their scale an outside of our categories.

Wehave the fade to color and iris transitions we could also use audio transitions to avoid having abrupt jumps or cuts in the sounds crossfade will smoothly mix the sound between two audio clips  and fade will smoothly lower the volume to mute you if we look into the video effects there's a folder called animation the effects in this folder will affect the opacity at the beginning and end of the clip they can be applied as a regular effect and adjusted in the controls panel.

So these can also be used as transitions if we overlay the clips on different tracks reveal length affects the duration of the transition at the start of the clip and conceal length affects the duration at the end of the clip 0% means no transition a typical beginners mistake is to overfill the edit with different video transitions this will produce visual clutter that is unpleasant to the viewer.

So i'd highly recommend you use these in moderation and try to find good situations to use them to your advantage so that's an overall look at transitions to learn more about editing in filmora pro make sure to check out our other tutorials in the series there's no limit to what you can make you.
