is there still a free version of Malwarebytes

In a word, no. The free version of  Malwarebytes for freeware anti-virus is fine. You will be able to scan your device for malware just like any other antivirus software. However, the free version of the software will not protect you in real-time as the premium package will.

When used in conjunction with other antivirus software, the malware is best free. However, for complete protection against malicious cybersecurity threats, I would recommend that you upgrade to a paid plan. You can try Malwarebytes Premium for free for 14 days to see if this is the right program for you.

How do I activate the premium version of Malware Bytes?

Once you've purchased Mall Variety Premium, launch Malware Bytes and click on Activate License (in the upper right of the dashboard).

You will be prompted to enter your license key. If you are a Windows user, you may be provided with a license ID. If so, click on the toggle next to "My license comes with a license ID" and enter your license ID. If you have not been given a License ID, do not click on the toggle.

Proceed to enter your license key in the box below "License Key." Once logged in, you can click on either Activate (Windows users) or Activate License (Mac users).

Mac users can be asked to enable real-time protection against malware bytes. For example, just click the Turn Protection On button.

Once your Malware Bytes Premium license is activated, you should see the word "Premium" next to the Malware Bytes logo.

Will Malwarebytes automatically scan my device?

Malwarebeats will automatically scan your device for cybersecurity threats. If you navigate to Settings and click the Schedule Scan tab, you can choose when and how often to scan your device. Including every hour, daily, monthly, and more.

You will also have the option to schedule multiple scans, make sure the scan quarantine malware will scan automatically, and if the scans ignore potentially unwanted programs (PUPs).
